ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) Tampa Bay Rays infielder Tim Beckham is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight months after surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in right knee.
The 23-year-old shortstop/second baseman, who made his major league debut in September, was injured during an offseason workout last week. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery in Pensacola on Tuesday.
Minor league pitcher Ryne Stanek had surgery to repair his right hip labrum. He is expected to return in mid-summer.
